Essay Advice from a Writer-Friend: Always Draft Outlines

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

It has been a year since I entered university and started taking up my course. As a university student, I am expected to accomplish all the academic tasks I’m assigned with. But if there is a task that I need some help with, it is writing essays. Essay writing has been my weakness since I was in primary school, and it seemed I never had any good opportunity to overcome this flaw even when I reached secondary school. Recently, however, I am making some progress with my essays.

With the new academic term just around the corner, an older friend of mine went to my place and stayed there while awaiting instructions from her employer. She is currently working as a professional writer for a custom essay service based in London. Surprised at her line of work, I immediately asked her how I could make some progress with my essays. Thankfully, she happily obliged to give me some tips on I could improve my academic essays.

It seems that one of my problems in writing essays is I often fail to organise my ideas as well as all necessary data and information. I usually proceed to write my compositions right away without organising them first. As a tip, my friend told me to always draft an outline first, as they typically do at the custom essay service she is working for. She said an outline would enable me to arrange the contents of my essay, starting from the most important ones, and would allow me to see whether I could write a coherent and understandable composition. My friend already left for London to resume her work at the custom essay service. Her advice may be simple, but I am now starting to see some good progress in my academic essays.
